Crash Takes Down Utility Pole, Closes Portion Of Route 23

A crash took down a utility pole and shut down a portion of Route 23 in Sussex County on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 17, authorities said.

The crash occurred between Mitchell Avenue and High Street in Franklin around 12:30 p.m., borough police said.

The roadway was shut down in both directions, according to 511NJ. Detours were being set up by the state diversion team to alleviate traffic.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area during the crash investigation.
